The resilience of the human spirit is a sight to behold, much like the determined runners tackling a gruelling marathon. This past weekend, Namibia witnessed both on a grand scale at the David Namwandi Trust Half Marathon, and Easyretire was proud to be a part of it.
Celebrating Resilience in the Face of Adversity
Imagine hundreds of students, hailing from all 14 regions of Namibia, braving the crisp morning air (a chilly 5.3 degrees!) to participate in this prestigious event. Divided into two categories – 21km for university and college students, and a 10km run for high schoolers – the marathon was a testament to the unwavering spirit of Namibia's youth. Over 400 students showed up, ready to push themselves and chase their dreams.
This echoes the very essence of Easyretire: empowering individuals to take charge of their futures. Just like these athletes betting on themselves, securing your retirement is about taking that crucial first step towards a life of well-deserved security.
A Commitment to Community and Future Leaders
Our sponsorship aligns perfectly with the vision of our esteemed client, The Social Security Commission of Namibia (SSC). The SSC serves as a cornerstone of Namibia's social fabric, providing a vital safety net through programs like maternity, sickness, and disability benefits. But their reach extends far beyond – they actively foster educational opportunities and economic development through bursaries and community projects. This dedication to building a brighter future for Namibians is truly inspiring.
Easyretire, as managers of the international component of the SSC portfolio, is proud to be associated with such an impactful organisation. The event organisers themselves embodied this spirit, sponsoring four students from rural villages who ran barefoot due to lack of proper footwear. Witnessing their determination, the organisers surprised them with new sports shoes, school shoes, and full uniforms – a testament to the transformative power of investing in our youth. This heartwarming gesture exemplifies the power of community and the unwavering support for Namibia's youth.
Deresh Lawangee, CEO at EasyRetire, summed it up perfectly: "This is a perfect culmination of human endeavor in sport and academics that has a meaningful impact on young learners and the future of our society. EasyRetire is proud to sponsor and be associated with this event, and we would like to thank the organizers for putting together this great event."
More Than Just a Race
The success of the David Namwandi Trust Half Marathon is measured not only by the number of participants or the winners but also by the joy and sense of accomplishment it brought to all involved.
The event culminated in a joyous prize-giving ceremony and a well-deserved meal for the participants. Just like these students overcame the initial hurdle of participating, you too can navigate the uncertainties of life and secure a comfortable retirement. Easyretire is here to be your trusted partner on that journey.
We are committed to supporting initiatives that weave themselves into the very fabric of society. By investing in Namibia's youth, we invest in the nation's future. Because a society that cares for its young is a society that thrives.
