EasyResearch Weekly Dividends Update

Written by Cay-Low Mbedzi | Jun 17, 2025 11:47:37 AM
On Monday, oil prices fell and stocks rose as investors grew more hopeful that the Israel-Iran conflict would have limited economic fallout. This followed Friday’s turmoil, when Israel’s airstrikes on Iran spiked oil prices, sank global stocks, and triggered a flight to safe-haven assets. Airline stocks dropped on rising fuel costs, while defence stocks rallied.

For dividend investors, falling share prices can boost yields if payouts hold steady, making income stocks more attractive and offering a chance to buy quality companies at better value.

This week, Super Group Limited is set to pay a special dividend worth nearly 60% of its share price, with the last day to qualify falling this week. Special dividends are one-off payments and don’t factor into regular yield calculations.

Also paying out: Main Street Capital Corp and Gladstone Investment Corp, both offering monthly payouts and annual yields around 5%, which The Motley Fool calls a “good” range.

  • On the JSE, Afine Investment, Frontier Transport, and eMedia are offering dividend yields between 8% and 10%.

Furthermore, Interactive Brokers Group Inc. is scheduled to implement a 4-for-1 forward stock split this week. Meanwhile, Pegasystems Inc. has announced a 2-for-1 forward stock split

A forward stock split increases the number of shares while reducing the share price, keeping the total value of a shareholder’s investment unchanged. Companies often do this to make their shares more affordable and attract a broader investor base. Both companies pay quarterly cash dividends, and payouts are expected to be adjusted as a result of the stock splits -  if payouts rise beyond the adjustment, yields can improve.

  • Pegasystems Inc. previously increased its dividend following an adjustment related to an earlier stock split.
  • Interactive Brokers Group Inc. will be performing its first-ever stock split.
