This week marks the final week before Trump’s administration imposes a sweeping set of new tariffs on most imports, set to take effect on April 2. Branded by Trump as *“[Liberation Day](https://blogs.easyequities.co.za/investing-during-market-uncertainties),*” the move aims to counter trade imbalances by pressuring foreign governments to lower their trade barriers or face higher U.S. duties.

- The tariffs will take effect unless other nations agree to equalize trade barriers or raise their own tariffs above U.S. levels.
- Each country will receive a tariff rate based on its trade policies, meaning some could face significantly higher duties than others.
- Ongoing negotiations may allow certain countries to avoid the steepest tariffs if they agree to favourable trade adjustments.

Dividend-paying companies provide steady income during economic uncertainty, offsetting market volatility. In fact, this week's latest dividend update includes several high-yield companies that are set to pay dividends to shareholders, with upcoming last trade dates.

These include:

- **Innovative Industrial Properties Inc.** (IIPR) and **Annaly Capital Management Inc. **(NLY), both with an annual dividend yield of 12%.
- **AGNC Investment Corp**. (AGNC), offering an annual dividend yield of 14%.
- **Orion Office REIT Inc.** (ONL), with an annual dividend yield of 17% .

The above-mentioned companies pay dividends quarterly, except for AGNC Investment Corp., which pays monthly.
