EasyEquities’ Shaun Rides with South Africa’s Sporting Legends

Written by TeamEasy | Aug 28, 2025 6:00:00 AM
Every office has that one colleague who quietly does their job, then suddenly BOOM you find out they’re a legit Olympic medalist.

That’s our Shaun Keeling. Partner Lead at EasyEquities by day… Olympic silver medalist and now one of the country's legendary sports icons.

Shaun’s Story

Before he was leading partnerships, Shaun was out on the water, rowing his heart out for South Africa. In 2016, he brought home Olympic silver in the men’s coxless pair in Rio. (Yes, silver. Yes, the Olympics. Yes, the actual world stage).

Fast Forward to Today…

Now Shaun is part of the African Icons Invitational, a legendary ride where 60 of South Africa’s sporting greats come together to cycle for a cause that’s bigger than any medal.

With 160km of rugged trails at the Summerplace Game Reserve, Shaun will be riding alongside icons to raise funds for families of fallen SA police officers.

“It’s amazing riding for a charity that gives back to the community and for the men and women that protect our country.

Having kids myself, I realize now what family is about. If I passed or my wife passed, you’d want and need someone to look after them. So to be donating to a charity for kids and families, and especially for the policemen and women that protect us, is very special.” – Shaun Keeling

Why This Hits Home

We’re an investing company. We love growth. But here’s the thing: some returns aren’t financial, they’re human. The African Icons Invitational raises funds for widows, orphans, and education support. It’s about building futures for families who’ve lost so much.

And guess what? Some of the brands you already know and invest in through EasyEquities like Absa are backing this event too.

Why We’re Proud

Shaun isn’t just riding for charity. He’s showing us what it means to carry your passion into everything you do, whether it’s rowing, cycling, or helping everyday South Africans grow their money.

And let’s be real: how often do you get to work with someone who’s not just part of the EasyEquities team, but also officially one of South Africa’s African Icons?
