EasyEquities Supports PinkDrive This Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to education, support, and action in the fight against cancer. It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of early detection and access to healthcare, especially for vulnerable communities.

This year, EasyEquities once again partners with PinkDrive through the Donate for Good feature, giving investors the chance to contribute to a cause that saves lives and empowers communities while continuing their investment journey during the month.

Who Is PinkDrive

PinkDrive, a non-profit health organisation founded in 2009 by Ms. Noelene Kotschan, exists to prevent as many people as possible from succumbing to breast, cervical, prostate, and testicular cancer. Its work is especially focused on South Africans without access to adequate healthcare, often in rural, township, and semi-urban areas, where its mobile units deliver vital screening and education.

Expanding Reach Across South Africa

PinkDrive’s Women’s Month Campaign in August reached 12,000 people in four provinces. CEO Noelene Kotschan explains: "The need for cancer screening is so great that communities began asking for more services. We therefore added cervical cancer screening through pap smears and, more recently, HPV screening. For men, we also provide PSA screening to detect prostate cancer."

She adds: "Cultural barriers are still a challenge, but after 20 years we’ve shown we are not a fly-by-night organisation. Before entering new communities, we work with local clinics for months to prepare and educate, ensuring people are informed and ready to use our services."

Prolonging Life Programmes

Built on the belief that early detection of treatable cancers can extend and improve lives, PinkDrive continues to provide essential health education and screenings across South Africa. Its flagship programmes include breast exams, mammograms, pap smears, and PSA tests, all delivered through mobile health units and supported by awareness initiatives such as "More Balls Than Most".

Powered by Sponsors and Investors

PinkDrive’s mission is strengthened by the support of sponsors, including JSE-listed companies like Shoprite Checkers and Dis-Chem. These companies not only play a vital role in sustaining PinkDrive’s work but are also available for investment through EasyEquities, highlighting the link between purpose-driven businesses and impactful community initiatives.

Veronique Van Rensburg, EasyEquities Head of Education, explains: “Every rand raised through Donate for Good for PinkDrive turns into hope, action, and life-saving care. These donations mean more screenings, more education, and more South Africans getting the chance to catch cancer early and step into treatment with the support they need. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it’s powerful to know that a simple act of giving can ripple out into something this meaningful.
