If you've got a retirement annuity and you want to transfer it into your EasyEquities account, there's an easy process you can go through to make that happen.

In doing so, you’ll be:

  • Minimizing fees – critical for any long-term wealth creation,
  • Choosing a fast, flexible and intuitive platform you can access on the go, and
  • Accessing a breadth of accounts (local and offshore shares, Tax Free Savings Account, crypto, property, a retirement annuity and more) and features (the ability to transfer your rands into other currencies, set up auto investments, invest in managed portfolios fractionally etc) you won’t find anywhere else.

So stop deliberating already. It’s time to make the move!

Now to the transfer process. It’s a simple one that involves just a few easy steps:

  • Activate your EasyEquities RA account. You can do this by navigating to your profile menu on the top right of your screen or app and selecting "Account Management" and selecting "Activate New Accounts".
  • Accept the T&Cs.
  • Fill out our online form to let us know a bit more about your transfer. Be sure to have a copy of your ID document (front and back), your policy number with your current provider, and proof of tax number - any SARS document displaying your name and tax reference number handy as we may need this from you during the process.

How long does it take?

While we do our very best to limit the timeframe to as short as possible, due to the various parties involved and the complexity of transferring an RA account, transfers usually take between 2-4 weeks.

That complexity is due the process of documents being sent between the transferring and receiving funds. Then the trustees and chairman from each side need to sign off and SARS clearance needs to be obtained.

But please don’t worry. We’ll do all the hard yards. Just follow steps 1-3 above and our excellent Transfers Department will keep you updated on your transfer along the way.

Transferring your fund

The RA transfer to EasyEquities can only be a cash transfer (not a unit transfer), which means you cannot transfer your existing investments (units) within your RA. You would need to liquidate your investments (units) in the RA and then transfer the cash. Your current provider may levy fees for the transfer so please check with them first.
