Rockstar Games recently released the Grand Theft Auto 6 (VI) trailer, breaking the YouTube record with over 90 million views in 24 hours. The game is one of many renowned titles under the Rockstar Games label, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive.

Take-Two Interactive Software Inc, based in New York City, is a prominent American video game publisher established in 1993. It owns renowned labels, Rockstar Games and 2K, responsible for acclaimed franchises like Grand Theft Auto and NBA 2K. Noteworthy for its high-quality games, Take-Two has expanded into mobile gaming, completing its acquisition of Zynga in 2022 and releasing titles like Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. The company also invests in online services, exemplified by Rockstar Games Social Club and 2K Games' MyNBA2K.

Financials

For the second quarter, total Net Bookings, measuring the total sales, including digital and physical products, licensing fees, merchandise, in-game ads, guides, and incentives, fell 4% to $1.44 billion compared to $1.50 billion in the previous fiscal second quarter. Recurrent consumer spending, which includes ongoing engagement covering virtual currency, add-ons, in-game purchases, and advertising, declined 7%, constituting 78% of the total. Major contributors include NBA 2K24, NBA 2K23, Grand Theft Auto Online, Grand Theft Auto V, Empires & Puzzles, Toon Blast, Red Dead Redemption 2, Red Dead Online, Words With Friends, Merge Dragons!, and Zynga Poker.

CEO of Take-Two and Chairman, Strauss Zelnick, said:

"Our strong second-quarter results, including Net Bookings of $1.4 billion, underscore the strength of our portfolio of iconic, industry-leading intellectual properties. During the period, our teams released new offerings, delivered engaging post-launch content, and advanced further the development of our eagerly-anticipated pipeline."

Acquisitions:

Earlier this year, an analyst revealed on social media that Take-Two acquired GameClub, a subscription mobile gaming service. The acquisition comes after the company finished buying Zynga.
