A Podcast By EasyEquities Goes To 100K Downloads

It hasn’t been a full year since we debuted our podcast, but our community has ensured that we hit the 100 thousand mark in listens! Give yourselves a toast for making sure our community hits this insane landmark.

Hosted by Tshepo ‘DJ @ Large’ Kgapane, the Easy Does It podcast was born on April 2021 and featured another powerhouse in the podcasting space, Simon Brown, in conversation about investing 101.

Simon, from Just One Lap and MoneywebNow, talked about what every first-time investor needs to consider when starting out their own journey in buying stocks. From basic terminology to introducing Exchange Traded Funds, this conversation packs a lot of insight and knowledge in under 22 minutes.

We then ended 2021 by highlighting the different 101s, beginner-level knowledge, that new investors could find in previous episodes. You can catch that recap below.

Our 2022 episodes kicked off with insights from financial planner and all-round super dude, Terence Tobin, about the differences between Financial Advisors vs. Financial Planners.

However, a major theme we wanted to bring our community up to speed on was retirement and planning for soft life-livin’.

We featured a wide range of guests to talk about efficient retirement investing and making South African tax-breaks work for you. From double-bill episodes featuring Craig Turton, EasyEquities’ Head of Wealth, on What You Need to Know About Retirement to understanding the basics of Living Annuities with Gavin ‘Uncle Gee’ Lewin, we dug deep to give you the rundown on retirement planning.

We even got lit by inviting Brendan Dale to introduce the F.I.R.E Movement to our community. F.I.R.E stands for Financially Independent, Retired Early.

We managed to get an absolute LEGEND in the personal finance arena to join the podcast when we had Maya Fisher-French on the show to compare Tax-Free Savings with Retirement Annuities. Maya contrasted the benefits of either type of account, both of which are available on EasyEquities, as well as highlighting the rules that govern both types of investment vehicles.

With over 40 episodes of the podcast, there’s something for everybody! This achievement is by and for the Easy community, so this milestone is one for all of us. Our partnership with DJ @ Large and the Youth Money Circle team has been nothing short of magic, so join us in raising a toast (whether it be champagne, juice or bread) to reaching 100k listens in our first 11 months of actual Easy listening.
