EasyEquities partners with GCash - Philippines' #1 Finance App

Great news Easy community – we can finally announce our partner in the Philippines!

We are very proud and excited to let you know that we are partnering with GCash – a much loved and popular brand with well over 70 million active clients. Yep, that’s right – 70 MILLION people already use this amazing app. And soon these users will, like us, have the opportunity to invest the EasyEquities way. All part of our mission to make investing accessible to all.

GCash is the largest and fastest growing mobile wallet in the Philippines and our partnership allows us to bring managed portfolios of US shares to all Filipinos.

This partnership aims to make investing accessible to all qualified Filipinos by allowing them to invest in the US stock market with ease, previously an opportunity reserved for the wealthy as it has historically been limited to a small portion of the population due to the high cost and the complexity of traditional brokerage services.

The launch of our exciting partnership is being preceded by a Fantasy Investing Game expected to launch in June 2023. The game will run for a minimum of six weeks and will allow Filipinos to try their hand at investing in real markets with fantasy money. The game is designed to educate and familiarize Filipinos with investing in the US stock market, while also providing a fun and engaging experience; giving all players the chance of winning prizes for competing and providing feedback on the platform. This is how we launched in South Africa all those years ago – and the experience was invaluable for ensuring a successful launch.

"GCash has always been committed to financial inclusion and empowering Filipinos to take control of their finances. That's why we are so excited to partner with EasyEquities to provide Filipinos with an easy, accessible and affordable way to invest in the US stock market. Through this partnership, we build on our mission to democratize investing to our 79 million users to grow their wealth through investing in the stock markets here at home and abroad too," said Jong Layug, VP of GCash’s Wealth Management Unit.

In the Philippines, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is the primary regulatory body overseeing securities and investments. The SEC is responsible for enforcing the securities laws, protecting investors, and promoting the development of a fair, transparent, and efficient securities market. In this regard, GCash and EasyEquities have been meeting with the SEC regularly to ensure compliance and approval to launch the real product as soon as possible.

The SEC played a pivotal role in bringing these parties together to launch the fantasy investment game as a way to educate, engage, and build confidence in the platform and investing for first time investors.

"EasyEquities is excited to bring its proven investment platform to the Philippines, together with the market-leading mobile wallet, GCash. By making investing more accessible and affordable, we aim to inspire a new generation of investors who can build their own wealth through our managed portfolios," said Charles Savage, CEO of EasyEquities. "We are thrilled to partner with GCash who share our purpose to democratise investing and can’t wait to replicate our South African success story by assisting millions of Filipinos to build their wealth through investing."

The launch of this partnership is a significant milestone in the Philippine investment landscape. It brings together the power of mobile technology, fintech innovation, global investing and shared purpose to provide Filipinos with a unique opportunity to grow their wealth and achieve their financial goals.

“The partnership of two market-defining fintech companies can help revolutionize the investment landscape in the Philippines by making it a more accessible, friendly and affordable activity for everyone,” said Martha Sazon, President and CEO of Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc – owners of GCash.

And for those of you who want a bit more research on our partner: GCash (G-Xchange, Inc.) is the #1 Finance App in the Philippines. Through the GCash App, well over 70 million registered users can easily purchase prepaid airtime; pay bills at over 1,600 partner billers nationwide; send and receive money anywhere in the Philippines, even to other bank accounts; purchase from over 5.2M partner merchants and social sellers; get access to savings, credit, loans and insurance; invest money, and so much more, all at the convenience of their smartphones.

GCash is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mynt (Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc.), the first and only double unicorn in the Philippines. GCash was recognized by The Asian Banker (TAB) and by the IDC in 2021 for its outstanding digital financial inclusion programs. They have recently launched their services overseas and continue to promote their financial inclusion programs globally.
