We are thrilled to announce Gracious Givers Sadaqa as the latest beneficiary of our ‘Donate for Good’ program on EasyEquities. This innovative feature allows investors to contribute to meaningful causes seamlessly as they invest, making a positive impact with each transaction.
Gracious Givers Sadaqa is a charitable organisation based in the Cape Flats, led by Zaida Mia and a dedicated group of friends and family. This organisation provides vital support to impoverished communities by feeding hundreds of people every couple of weeks. The work they do is a testament to the power of community and compassion in the face of adversity.
Zaida Mia’s journey with Gracious Givers Sadaqa began in her childhood in the Cape Flats. Growing up in areas like Manenberg and Mitchells Plain, she witnessed firsthand the struggles that many families face daily. Despite these hardships, Zaida and her family persevered, driven by a deep sense of empathy and a desire to help others.
“I grew up on the Cape Flats. Anyone who is familiar with the areas of Manenberg and Mitchells Plain will understand that life was ‘different’; it turns out you only really see how different it is when you’re out of that environment – and this usually happens much later in life… if ever.
Most of the people I grew up with still live in the same conditions and are not coping with the little they have; they are not okay. Basic needs cannot be met as they simply cannot draw water from stone. They work hard and long hours to just get by, and buying essentials is considered a luxury. We have a huge problem in our communities, and this is part of why we do what we do.”
The inspiration for Gracious Givers Sadaqa came from a simple act of kindness. A friend of Zaida’s mentioned her involvement in a local feeding scheme, and Zaida felt compelled to contribute. What started as a one-time effort to assist at the mosque before Eid quickly grew into a regular commitment. Zaida and her team now cook and distribute meals regularly, ensuring that those in need have access to nutritious food.
The impact of Gracious Givers Sadaqa extends beyond just providing meals. Zaida hopes to create opportunities and inspire young minds in her community. By showing them what is possible beyond their immediate surroundings, she aims to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future for the next generation.
EasyEquities’ Chief Marketing Officer, Carel Nolte, said: “Zaida’s story is a powerful reminder that one person can make a significant difference. Her humility and dedication inspire us all to do more for others. As we introduce Gracious Givers Sadaqa as our new ‘Donate for Good’ beneficiary, we believe this presents an opportunity for everyone to contribute in whatever way they can.”
Investors can help Zaida and her team continue their incredible work and bring hope to those who need it most. To learn more about "Donate for Good," click here or below.
