Hanging out with Decusatio: A Short Recap on being Fearless in 2023

We were excited to be invited for an in-person event hosted by the team at Decusatio called “Fearless decisions in 2023” on the 8th of February, and boy was it informative.

We were able to spend quality time with our clients, partners, and industry friends, and our spirits were lifted by the conference's A-List speaker talent of Rich Mulholland, Emma Montocchio, and Farai Mubaiwa.

Here are a few things we learned that can help you make fearless decisions:

“Fear is temporary, regret is forever.”
Being brave is a necessary trait for those who aspire at the forefront of innovation. But first, you need to know what it is to be fearless; one audience member expressed it quite eloquently: "To be fearless is to be bold, daring, and courageous, and to not stop at NO; and to be intentional is to be thoughtful and purposeful."

There are three types of decisions we make: high stakes, no stakes, and low stakes. Now, have you ever wondered how those in leadership cope with the seemingly endless stream of choices they must make?

It turns out that everyone of us has a finite amount of mental capacity to make worthwhile decisions in a given day. Here are three strategies and tools for making fearless decisions that we picked up at the event:

  1. Swallow The Frog: The premise is that you should tackle your most daunting challenge first thing in the morning (eating it). Eating the frog is, in essence, doing the hardest thing you have to do that day first thing in the morning.
  2. Fewer Better Decisions: Make fewer decisions each day to become more productive. Less decision-making means more time for vital things.
  3. Create Rules and Routines: Create a routine that supports a life you want to live. Automating your important habits will surely make success inevitable.

We'll be on the lookout for future Decusatio conferences, and who knows, maybe we'll even co-host one. The event left us feeling energised, and the Decusatio team did a fantastic job organising it.

The cherry on top: Decusatio CEO Marc Ashton is so passionate about investing that having an investor mindset is part of the company's culture. Decusatio offers their employees a great incentive to invest by opening an EasyEquities account and receiving an EE voucher to start their investment journey!

“If anything comes to mind. You do it, and you do it now. Be bold enough to chase your dreams. Be fearless.
