asyEquities is proud to introduce Women for Change as our December Donate for Good beneficiary. Women for Change is a South African nonprofit that supports survivors of GBV, raises nationwide awareness, and advocates for accountability and safer communities.
Their work comes at a crucial time for South Africa, as the country continues to confront the devastating impact of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF). With GBVF now officially declared a national disaster, the country is called to respond with greater urgency and coordination. By supporting Women for Change, investors can contribute directly to a movement that advocates for safety, justice, and dignity for women every single day.
A Movement That Drives National Action
In November 2025, Women for Change helped mobilise the powerful G20 Women’s Shutdown protest, where thousands of participants held a 15-minute silent lie-down to honour women lost to femicide.

The call for women to pause their labour and their spending demonstrated the immense social and economic contribution women make, and the cost of a society that fails to protect them. Sustained activism like this played a key role in prompting the government to formally acknowledge GBVF as a national disaster.
Reflecting on the march, Jess Maluleke, EasyEquities' Head of Client Experience, shared: "I was privileged to join the Women for Change march in November, standing alongside thousands calling for GBVF to be recognised as a national disaster. It wasn’t just a march - it was a collective cry from a nation that has carried this pain for far too long. Every story of a woman or child harmed is not just a headline, but a life changed forever, and the urgency for action is undeniable."
She adds: "To all the brave and resilient women of Purple Group, this is for you. And to my daughter, my greatest reminder of why this fight cannot stop - this is for you. While there is still a long road ahead, knowing that this march was heard by our government gives me hope. It is a small but meaningful step- a reminder that persistence and unity matter. May we continue to march, speak, demand, and hope until every woman and child in South Africa is safe, valued, and free."

Beyond the 16 Days of Activism
Globally, the period from 25 November to 10 December marks the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). While this campaign helps to amplify awareness and spark conversation, Women for Change reminds us that the fight against GBVF cannot be confined to a two-week window or to moments of national attention. Their work continues long after the global spotlight fades, supporting survivors, educating communities, and pushing for accountability and reform.
Lerisa Pungavanam, EasyEquities' Compliance Specialist, reinforces this ongoing commitment: "The fight against GBVF doesn’t end with a march or a moment of silence - it’s an ongoing commitment. It’s the choices we make, the voices we raise, and the actions we take to protect, uplift, and stand with women across our country. As we continue this work beyond the 16 Days of Activism, platforms like Donate for Good give the broader public and investors a tangible way to stand with the fight against GBV, helping drive meaningful, lasting change."
An Everyday Commitment
Meaningful change requires consistent, year-round commitment. GBVF is not an issue that appears only during campaigns or protests; it affects families and communities every single day. Women for Change confronts this reality head-on, ensuring that advocacy, support, and education remain continuous. Their message is clear: ending GBV and femicide is a daily responsibility that we must all share.
“Women For Change is building a safer South Africa by supporting survivors, driving nationwide awareness, and holding institutions accountable. The funds raised through EasyEquities will directly strengthen our digital victim support services and help us guide and support more women and families affected by gender-based violence and femicide. Together, we can create a country where every woman and child is believed, protected, and supported,” said Sabrina Walter, Founder and Executive Director of Women For Change.
Throughout December, EasyEquities investors will have the opportunity to donate directly to Women for Change and help strengthen their continuous efforts. Every contribution, no matter the size, supports a safer and more equitable future for women in South Africa. By donating, investors stand alongside those working tirelessly to ensure that the fight against GBV is not seasonal, but sustained - today, tomorrow, and every day.
