As we celebrate Human Rights Month, we are also celebrating the latest beneficiary of our DonateForGood program: the African Icons Invitational (NPC), which is making significant strides in contributing towards human rights, specifically in South Africa.
The non-profit organisation is dedicated to supporting the widows and orphans of South African police officers who have tragically lost their lives in the line of duty. The African Icons Invitational achieves its noble mission by hosting epic cycling events, attracting both seasoned cyclists and high-profile athletes from South Africa and around the world. These events serve as platforms for raising funds and awareness, encouraging ordinary individuals to open their hearts and wallets to support the families left behind by these fallen heroes.
Every pedal stroke and every donation made during these events directly impacts the lives of the families supported by the Widowers and Widows, Orphans Fund and SAPSET (South African Police Service Education Trust), providing crucial financial assistance and educational support. By rallying the community around a shared cause, the African Icons Invitational embodies the spirit of solidarity and compassion, showing that together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
Cay-Low Mbedzi, EasyEquities Content Specialist, said, “Similar to the organisation bringing cyclists together to make a difference, the DonateForGood feature brings investors who are keen to lend a hand together to amplify the impact financially, any amount, as they buy their desired share. Every cent counts.”
"The epic cycling events are an amazing initiative that supports the families of fallen policemen and women in the line of duty. In the previous cycling event, I joined forces with Charles Savage, CEO of EasyEquities, Lucas Herricks, Head of Partner Operations, and Brandon Valjalo, the South African skating maverick. The aim was to create awareness and spread the message, encouraging people to support these families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty," said Shaun Keeling, Relationship Manager at EasyEquities.
The default value to donate is null, so users who wish to donate can add a value that they would like to donate.
As we reflect on the principles of human rights and social justice during this special month, let us also applaud and support organisations like the African Icons Invitational, whose dedication to serving others exemplifies the true essence of humanity and compassion.
