Weekly Dividends Update

Wall Street experienced heightened volatility as renewed trade tensions between the US and China rattled investor sentiment. The uncertainty surrounding these negotiations led to sharp movements across equities, with many investors reassessing their positions ahead of upcoming earnings reports and policy updates.

Earnings season is also in full swing, with several major companies preparing to announce their quarterly results. Investors will be keeping a close eye on names such as Coca-Cola, GE Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, RTX Corporation, General Motors, Netflix, Tesla, Vertiv, American Airlines, Intel, Kinross Gold, and Honeywell. Surprises in earnings or outlooks could drive share prices higher.

Pullbacks resulting from geopolitical uncertainty often present attractive entry points for long-term investors.  Stocks such as dividend-paying stocks may trade at more reasonable valuations as their next payout dates approach.

This week:

  • Thor Industries Inc. announced an increase to its upcoming dividend, providing shareholders with higher income amid market fluctuations.
  • Meanwhile, Antero Midstream Corporation and Gladstone Investment Corporation continue to demonstrate strong consistency in their dividend payouts, reinforcing their reputations as reliable income generators.
  • Carrier Global Corp. is also expected to raise its dividend following its next quarterly payout, adding to the list of companies offering steady income opportunities.

Additionally, Remgro Limited is set to distribute both a special and an ordinary dividend.

  • Notably, Remgro shares can be used as collateral for an EasyCredit loan
    • giving investors cash that could be used to reduce or service existing borrowing,
    • offering access to cash to potentially take advantage of market opportunities amid ongoing volatility.

Several locally listed ETFs are also preparing to pay dividends to investors. These include funds from Satrix, 10X, and 1nvest, as well as various AMETFs from 10X and 27four. These funds provide exposure to different industries and markets, allowing investors to diversify their portfolios while still earning steady income through regular distributions.

Government bonds offer a reliable way to earn fixed income by lending money to the government in exchange for regular interest payments.
Dividends are one of the many key components of investing, representing a share of a company's profits distributed to its shareholders.
Special dividends, also known as extraordinary dividends, are one-time payments made by companies to shareholders due to specific financial events, like windfall profits or asset sales.
