In an environment where interest rates fall or pause, traditional savings accounts often lose their appeal as they deliver lower returns and offer little potential for growth.

High-yield dividend stocks, on the other hand, often become more attractive, providing investors with stronger and more reliable income streams.

Looking at companies currently offering high dividend yields:

  • Innovative Industrial Properties Inc., the first and only cannabis-focused real estate company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, specializes in the regulated U.S. cannabis industry and offers a dividend yield of around 13%.
  • Annaly Capital Management Inc., a leading capital manager investing in residential and commercial assets, provides investors with income-generating exposure to real estate financing and delivers a dividend yield of about 13%.
  • AGNC Investment Corp., a real estate investment trust that primarily invests in agency mortgage-backed securities guaranteed by the U.S. government, offers income-focused investors a dividend yield of up to 14%.

In the Australian market, most real estate investment companies provide annual yields of around 4% to 5%. Atlas Arteria Limited, a leading private toll roads operator, stands out with a 7% yield, while Centuria Office REIT delivers yields of approximately 8%. These companies typically pay dividends twice a year.

In the UK market, Phoenix Group Holdings, a leading insurance provider, offers a yield of around 8%.

In the local market, companies such as Sun International Limited, Southern Africa’s leading hospitality group, provide an annual dividend yield of around 9%, with dividends paid twice a year.

Additionally, in other upcoming events,  Remgro is set to unbundle its eMedia stake, whereby shareholders of Remgro will receive eMedia shares at a defined ratio.

  • The last day to buy shares that qualify to participate in the unbundling is 22 September 2025
