Weekly Dividends Update

Weekly Dividends Update
2:19

This week is another major earnings week, with several big companies set to announce their results. These include Alphabet (Google), Amazon, Disney, Uber, Reddit, Microchip Technology, Barrick Gold, and Affirm.

Disney, Alphabet, Microchip Technology, and Barrick Gold are also among the companies expected to announce their next quarterly dividend payouts this week.

FYI - Positive catalysts such as earnings beats, stronger-than-expected guidance, and higher dividend payouts can support share price gains.

Share buybacks are another way companies reward shareholders by repurchasing their own shares in the market and returning value to investors. This reduces the number of shares in circulation, which can support a higher share price if demand remains steady or increases.

The latest dividend update includes several companies that are preparing to pay cash dividends while also performing share repurchase programs.

As defence spending continues to rise, Howmet Aerospace, a major American aerospace and defence company, previously increased its share repurchase program from $2 billion to $2.4 billion.

  • The program has been ongoing, and as of October 2025, the remaining balance stood at $1.5 billion.

  • The company is expected to disclose in its full-year results later this month how much authorisation remains and how many shares were repurchased during the period.

  • It recently approved a cash dividend, and the last day to buy shares that qualify for this dividend is this week.

Cheniere Energy Inc, a leading producer and exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the US, is also preparing to pay a cash dividend.

  • The company previously approved an expanded $4 billion share repurchase authorisation through 2027 as part of its long-term capital return strategy.

Benefiting from surging copper prices, Southern Copper Corp, a leading copper producer with one of the world’s largest copper reserves, is increasing its upcoming cash dividend by 11% from the previous payout.

  • The company will pay both a cash dividend and a stock dividend, where investors will receive additional shares at a defined ratio.

  • Both fractional and full shareholders will qualify to receive these payouts.

Dividends are one of the many key components of investing, representing a share of a company's profits distributed to its shareholders.
Special dividends, also known as extraordinary dividends, are one-time payments made by companies to shareholders due to specific financial events, like windfall profits or asset sales.
