We’ve added our 45th Donate for Good beneficiary on the platform - WOW (Words Open Worlds).
The previous organisations have received a staggering amount of over R1,2 million from more than 90 000 EasyEquities community members. Truly remarkable, and even more so if one considers that many people “only” donate R5. It shows the power of small amounts and compounding if you ask us - no amount is ever too small to invest or donate.
Anyone can easily donate - when you buy a share or ETF in your ZAR or TFSA account, at the confirmation screen, simply click on the Donate button, and you can give R5, R50, R500 or any amount of your choosing.
Carel Nolte, Chief Enablement Officer at EasyEquities, said: “We launched our first beneficiary during the hard lock-down - on 23 March 2020. Literally overnight. Our CEO Charles and I chatted, our CTO Paul Jansen van Vuuren and a few other legendary Easy teammates worked through the night, and there it was - a way to get our phenomenal community to contribute. And since then, a variety of organisations have continued to benefit - across our country and across many areas of need. From the Gift of the Givers to Cotlands to the Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy, Team EasyEquities has been generous in their support. Smart investors and truly phenomenal people.”
The latest beneficiary is linked to the Toyota US Woordfees (and by the way, don’t forget that you can buy Toyota shares on the EasyEquities platform) - WOW (Words Open Worlds).
WOW is a transformative organization dedicated to empowering young individuals by illuminating the path to success through education. This inspiring project fosters a deep appreciation for language, literature, and the arts while making learning an enjoyable experience. WOW's impactful initiatives extend their reach to schools throughout South Africa, with a special emphasis on those situated in severely under-resourced communities.
WOW's far-reaching impact is evident as it touches the lives of over 1,400 schools and an astonishing 150,000 eager learners across the country. Through their dedication and innovative approaches, WOW is opening doors and expanding horizons, proving that education is indeed the key to unlocking dreams and achieving greatness.
Carel added, "The WOW team are simply wow themselves! They work tirelessly to improve the lives of many youths in our country, and I am especially proud this year that as part of their work, they are encouraging learners to sign up for EasyEquities and giving them R50 to do so."
"If you love the arts as much as we do, why not consider investing in the sponsors of the Woordfees. You can buy shares (or portions of a share) for Toyota, Heineken Beverages, Standard Bank, Naspers, MultiChoice or EasyEquities (Purple Group) via the EasyEquities app." Woordfees added.
