Legends, Leaders & First-Time Investors Teed Off in KZN

On a crisp and sun-drenched morning in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, the EasyRetire team had the privilege of attending a truly unforgettable Golf Day at the prestigious Ernie Els Signature Course at Zimbali Lakes. Hosted on the 16th of May 2025 by Swing Through Africa, the day brought together industry leaders, sporting legends, and everyday champions for a round of world-class golf, networking, and celebration – all against the backdrop of South Africa’s stunning coastline.

From the moment the first tee shot echoed across the greens, it was clear this was more than just a game, it was a meeting of minds and a celebration of possibilities.

A Gathering of Greats

The fairways saw their fair share of prominent figures. Former Springbok and rugby legend Odwa Ndungane, joined by his wife and businesswoman Kgomotso Ndungane, graced the greens, adding a touch of sporting stardom to the day. Also in the room was powerhouse of top executives and decision makes who are committed and support repositioning of the province and city through the power of sport tourism.

Not far behind were high-profile guests from the business world, including the inspiring Bheki Ngema, the founder of South Africa’s first black-owned jewellery manufacturer and retailer. Representatives from eThekwini Municipality, Invest Durban and KwaZulu Natal Tourism and Film Authority supported the inaugural Swing Thru Zimbali Lakes Golf Day , reinforcing how events like these bridge the gap between public sector development and private enterprise.

And in true EasyEquities fashion, there were surprises along the way, Bheki Ngema walked away as the lucky draw winner, receiving R5,000 into his EasyEquities account! A fitting prize for a man who has spent his life investing in himself and in his dream. We’re confident that just as he’s built a successful, trailblazing business, he’ll thrive as he steps into the world of investing. Great Swings, Better Conversations

After the last putt dropped, attendees were treated to a relaxed lunch under the perfect Ballito sky, where laughter and conversation flowed just as easily as the drinks. This post-round setting proved fertile ground for new relationships to blossom, from potential business collaborations and strategic partnerships to future foursomes for friendly competition.

It’s our hope that connections made on the course translate into meaningful ventures off the course.

A huge shoutout to Sindile Xulu from Swing Through Africa for pulling it all together. Your flawless coordination and warm hospitality made the day an undeniable success, we look forward to many swings together where golf meets investment opportunities and we were proud to be part of it.

But perhaps the most heartening highlight of the day wasn’t just who was on the greens, but who was watching from the sidelines.

Throughout the event, we were humbled to learn that several Zimbali Lakes Resort staff - from security guards to waitstaff, are EasyEquities clients, and a few even registered on the day! People like Abongile Ndinga, a dedicated security guard, and Mzo Mpungose, a waiter with big dreams, are perfect examples of what we stand for:
