Stand Against GBV: EasyEquities Donate for Good Featuring INpowered

Stand Against GBV: EasyEquities Donate for Good Featuring INpowered
3:38

This March, our Donate for Good feature proudly welcomes back INpowered for the second time. We first featured the organisation in 2025, where the incredible support from nearly 2,000 clients helped raise approximately R20,000 to advance their mission. We are honoured to partner with INpowered again as they continue empowering women and girls across South Africa with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to protect themselves and navigate potentially dangerous situations.

INpowered’s Mission and Impact

Since 2012, INpowered has been working to change the narrative around gender-based violence by equipping people to defuse confrontations whenever possible and protect themselves from violence. The INpowered personal protection program has reached over 16,000 women and girls across South Africa. Through the INpowered Big Break, Mark and the INpowered team aim to increase those numbers substantially.

“Much like war, crime, and poverty, gender-based violence is unfortunately something we’ll most likely never eradicate from society,” says Mark. “What we can do is work with individuals, giving them the knowledge and training to respond to volatile situations quickly. We want to give every woman a choice when she feels that her personal safety is being threatened.”

The INpowered Big Break Event

The biggest board break currently on record involves an event of approximately 300 trained martial artists. INpowered’s goal is to break that record with 1,000 untrained participants at one event in a bold demonstration of unity against gender-based violence.

Funds raised through the INpowered Big Break event will be used to offer the full INpowered personal protection program to 2,500 women and girls in 2026. Mark explains, “Many women who desperately need these skills can’t afford the associated costs, and our goal is to bridge that gap wherever we can.”

The INpowered Big Break is scheduled to take place within the same week as International Women’s Day 2026, uniting voices and fists in the fight against violence against women and children.

Event Details and How to Participate

Event details:

  • Date: Wednesday, 18 March 2026
  • Time: 18h00 to 21h00 (registration at 17h00 for 17h30)
  • Location: The Tryst, 20 Archimedes Street, Kramerville, Sandton
  • Cost: R700.00 for two people

Each ticket purchased allows two participants to attend, as every delegate requires a partner to complete the board break.

INpowered invites individuals and companies in and around Johannesburg to get involved in this record-breaking event. “With the right support, we can make a significant difference to thousands of lives,” urges Mark. “Join us and together let’s INpower women to live more confidently and more safely, despite the state of the world around them.”

The Big Break is made possible through the generous support of sponsors, including The Tryst, Melon Mobile and Identikit Marketing, with further sponsorship opportunities available.

Carel Nolte, EasyEquities Chief Enablement Officer, added that, "To further support this meaningful initiative, some of our team members from EasyEquities will also be participating in the INpowered Big Break event. Their involvement reflects our collective commitment to empowering communities and standing in solidarity with efforts to combat gender-based violence."
