What are the fees I pay when I invest?

Just like having a bank account, which requires you to pay certain fees, investing doesn’t come without certain costs. These differ depending on which broker you invest with. Typically you can expect to pay a monthly fee just to use the platform you are investing with which can range from R80 to R100 a month. On EasyEquities you pay zero platform fees, nada!

You’ll also typically pay a fee to transact (buy or sell shares) on the platform that you invest on. These are called brokerage fees and can range from around 0.5% to 4% of the value of your transaction. On EasyEquities, the brokerage you pay is 0.25%.

There are also some unavoidable transaction fees you are charged when buying and selling securities and these will always be charged no matter where you choose to buy shares.

Transparency

It’s always a good idea to know exactly what costs you’ll be paying, before you go through with a transaction in your investment account.

EasyEquities provides you with a detailed description of the fees that will be charged on a specific transaction, right before you need to give confirmation. That way, you know exactly what you are in for, each time.

If you want to get a bit more detail on the kind of costs you might need to consider, a full profile of all costs / fees charged by EasyEquities is available right HERE.
