If you’ve heard about Bitcoin, Ethereum or NFTs and wondered what it’s all about, you’re not alone. Crypto is one of the most exciting and fastest-growing technologies today. More than just digital money, it's reshaping how we think about finance, ownership and the internet itself.
At the heart of it is a powerful idea. People can now send value across the world without needing a bank. They can borrow, lend and earn interest using only code. Artists and creators can sell their work directly. Developers are building apps that run without middlemen. It’s a shift that’s already happening, and it’s happening fast.
Over the past decade, Bitcoin grew from around $217 in 2015 to over $105,000 in 2025, a return of more than 48,000%. In comparison, the S&P 500 rose from roughly 2,050 to 5,900 in the same period, delivering a 188% gain. That’s not a small edge, it’s a completely different league.
When something outperforms the world’s top stock index by that much, without a CEO, office, or country, it’s probably worth understanding. Not because you should buy it, but because you should know why it grew.
From personal experience, I can tell you that no amount of research replaces actual hands-on exploration. I’ve spent hundreds of hours reading about crypto, but it was only when I started investing, using decentralised exchanges, interacting with smart contracts, and even making (and losing) real money with trading, that things started to click. That’s when the learning becomes real.
Of course, this isn’t encouragement to buy anything, especially if you’re under 18. But understanding how these systems work by grasping the ideas behind them will be a major advantage in any future path.
Crypto might feel complicated now, but so did the internet in the early 2000s. This is an opportunity for the next generation to start learning about a technology that may well shape their future. So, encourage them to stay curious, start learning early, and explore the technology that may define the world they grow up in.
